Social training

What is the social internship?

The MaS is a form of volunteer work . You do something good for society without getting paid for it.

You are doing your MaS at a social organization . A social organization is a non-profit organization. The aim of such an organization is not to make a profit but to contribute something to society. A social organization is often an association or foundation that is committed specifically to a group of people in society.

Examples of social organizations:

  • A sports club or other association , for example a football club or an orange club.
  • A care institution, such as a retirement home or a home for people with disabilities.
  • A foundation , such as a museum, play library, animal shelter or drop-in center.

By the way, a MaS is something different from a professional internship. You complete a professional internship to gain professional experience. The purpose of a MaS is to discover how fun and valuable volunteer work is, and to give you insight into society.

FIND AN INTERNSHIP POSITION

How do you find a social internship?

💬 option 1

The easiest way to find your MaS is of course via the job board for social internships!   With all internship places in Woerden and the surrounding area that could use your help.

🏫 Option 2

Come to the MaS market on June 5, 2024 at the Minkema College in Woerden from 7-9 pm. Here you will discover which organizations there are and what you can do there. So you will be introduced to many different internship addresses in one go!

👋 Option 3

Of course you can also search yourself! Many organizations are very happy with extra help and therefore think it's great if you come by or contact us! Here you will find an overview of volunteer organizations in Woerden and the surrounding area.

The choice is huge! Here you will find videos from various organizations.

Your social internship must meet these requirements:

1. You will complete a total of 30 hours of internship (Kalsbeek College, Minkema Colleague location Minkemalaan). If you are at the Minkema College Stein location, you will complete a 20-hour internship .
2. You are free to plan your own internship hours in consultation with your internship organization. You do your internship outside school hours. Would you like to do an internship for 2 hours per week for a number of weeks? Or would you rather choose to do your entire internship in one week, for example during a school holiday? Everything is allowed! You can even start during the summer holidays prior to your internship year.
3. Your internship always takes place at a non-profit organization . The only exception to this is that you may do an internship at a for-profit company if that company organizes a project in the context of corporate social responsibility, and your internship takes place within that project.
4. You will not get paid for your internship hours. However, you will receive a lot of appreciation from the organization where you do your internship and from the people you help.
Not only do you look over the shoulder of someone else, you also roll up your sleeves at your social internship location.

5. The activities determine whether an internship is allowed or not : your internship is not called a 'social internship' for nothing. For example, a MaS at a riding school is not allowed if you are going to muck out stables for 30 hours. But if you help give driving lessons, it is allowed. An MaS at a daycare center, childminder or playgroup is not permitted, but you are allowed to do an internship at a primary school.

Have you found a nice internship, but are you unsure whether it is suitable ? Then consult with your internship coordinator at school.

You will find all information about the social internship on the government website!

Doing an internship: this is how it works

Do you have an internship in mind? On the right track! Now it is important to ensure that you can actually do an internship there. This is how you do it:

1. Check whether your internship location meets the following conditions:

  • Your internship is intended to train social skills .
  • Your work during your internship matches your talent and level .
  • You are not allowed to do dangerous or risky work during your internship.
  • Informal care for friends or family is not seen as MaS .
  • An employee of the internship organization will be assigned to you as an internship supervisor .

2. Does your internship meet the conditions? Please contact the organization.

Did you find your internship via this website? Then click on the 'I want to help' button at the bottom of the call to get in touch.

3. After the first contact, an introductory meeting follows. Are you both excited? Then you will probably immediately discuss when your internship will start.
4. Bring your internship contract form with you on your first day of internship so that your internship supervisor can sign it. Then hand in the form at school.
5. Take your
assessment form on the last day of your internship   and have it completed by your internship supervisor. Then hand in the form at school.
