Heritage Day
Woerden has had city rights for 650 years in 2022. And in some places in Woerden you can still see all kinds of beautiful buildings that have been labeled as monuments over time. To give all Woerden residents something of the history of Woerden, Open Monuments Day is organized every year. A number of monuments in Woerden are open to visitors. Think of the Castle, the mill and various churches. In addition, all kinds of children's activities, a cinema and musical performances are provided.
Open Monument Day is a national initiative, but is organized in Woerden by the Open Monument Day Foundation. A club of enthusiastic volunteers with a heart for the history of Woerden. On the day itself, they work together with Gilde Woerden, among others, who organize tours through monuments. Would you like to know more about the Open Monument Day Foundation?
