Safe shopping
Tips for safe shopping for a person seeking help
The corona crisis affects us all. Our lives look a little different. Fortunately, perhaps more than ever, we are there for each other. Many people have registered on Hart voor Woerden (and beyond) who would like to run an errand for people who can no longer do this themselves.
But how do you make sure you can do this safely? We all want to stay healthy but also be there for each other. We list the guidelines:
1. Just make a call
Make appointments by phone about the day and time when the groceries will be done. Preferably also go through the shopping list. This way there are no misunderstandings.
2. Money in an envelope
Make financial arrangements by phone. We recommend that the person requesting assistance puts money in an envelope. This amount must be higher than the expected costs. The change and the receipt are then put back in the envelope and returned to the person requesting help. The money is first collected by the volunteer before he / she goes shopping. In consultation, it can be agreed to pay differently, for example with Tikkie.
3. No debit card
Never accept a debit or credit card from the person requesting assistance. Don't pin for him or her either. This is for everyone's own safety.
4. Only to 1 store
Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to go to the store together with the person requesting help. We also recommend that you do all your shopping in 1 store.
5. Keep your distance
Before you go shopping, pick up the envelope with the money and shopping list from the person requesting help. Ensure an appropriate distance (minimum 1,5 .) meters).
6. Double check
Check whether everything is in the envelope and whether the amount that you have agreed is correct.
7. Front door delivery
You can deliver the groceries to the front door. If this is really not possible due to circumstances, you can deliver it indoors. Please note 1,5 meters away.
8. Control
Ask the person requesting help if he/she wants to check the envelope with the receipt and change. If something is not right, report this to each other immediately.
9. Not feeling well = staying home
If you are not feeling well on the agreed day, call Hart voor Woerden. We will then quickly look for someone else. Don't take any risks and stay at home.
